The DJ and presenter Pete Tong awarded MBE

Pete Tong is already an electronic music British institution. He is the presenter of the Essential Mix show at the no less legendary BBC Radio 1 wherein each week he invites a dj-star to play for him and for the thousands of listeners who have spread throughout the planet. This football follower in general and Arsenal in particular is also a regular in Ibiza where he takes a few seasons partying Pure Pacha nights where he invites to illustrious artists as Laurent Garnier, Jeff Mills and Steve Lawler.

As a producer he has flirted with soundtracks and has worked for films such as The Beach, Human Traffic and 24 Hour Party People. Always sensitive to new trends , the artist has created, in true British style, his version of the Podcast with his own chart which he has called Tongcast.

This DJ, radio presenter and essential voice in electronic music, just added a new title to his legacy, the English man has been awarded Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (MBE) for his services to music and broadcasting. This Membership in the Order is granted by the King or Queen of England to those who do something significant for the United Kingdom.

The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire is a British Order of Chivalry, instituted on 4th June 1917 by King George V. The royal house and recognizes the contribution of the English man to the world of music. The Order of the British Empire has been awarded to great personalities of the world of music, film, literature, and many other areas of culture and knowledge.
