EP Reviews

Gearing up for the summer season, the impressionable label, Hot Creations, introduces yet another cutting edge artist with a three track EP that sets the stage for sun, dancing, and carefree vibes. UK’s own wAFF, though still in his early 20’s, has developed an impressive career for himself thus far, boasting productions and gigs that far surpass his age. His record, Rainbows, is another example of this young talent’s career on the rise. With tracks already being supported by heavy hitting artists like Jamie Jones and Subb-An, wAFF’s thriving deep house and techno catalog will see the start of a successful 2012; with more tasteful productions to come.

Starting off the release with the heavy rolling bass of the title track, Jo Johnson, wAFF delivers an old school vibe with pumping percussion and Balearic vocal harmonies. This dance floor bomb develops a feel of jacking house with rapid build-ups and energetic ambience. Jeyda takes Rainbows to a deeper side of house, combining sharp keys with hypnotic chords to add alluring layers and contrast to a perfectly mastered soundscape. Finishing up the EP, Rainbows is a perfect late night groove as shakers and verbed out synths create a trippy afterhours vibe that will keep the floor moving into the early morning hours.
