Quenum

Face to face

Serialism Records is going to present in November the Quenum debut album. The man who created the Cadenza label back in 2003 with Luciano, presents now, ten years later, in his electronic mature, his long play called Face To Face. But this is not the first Quenum collaboration with the label of Cesare vs Disorder, they work together last year with the Another Day ep. So, let’s check now the advance of the Phillipe Quenum album, a professional breakdancer that was raised in Africa and found love in London in the 80s.

Lead track Face To Face pulses with raw, rumble bass as hard claps accent an unfettered groove and a powerful vocal sample. The track is deep, but it faces the dance floor as well, and gets to win. For the remix, the count on Cassy Britton, one of the most widely respected DJs and producers on the global circuit, splitting her time between residencies at some of the best clubs in the World (Panorama Bar, Trouw and Rex Club) and a jam packed season in Ibiza. She as well displayed her impeccable taste in her recently released Fabric 71. Cassy delivers a great remix, classy and timeless, putting the vocals in a loop, hypnotising the dance floor in her usual smart way. The track is growing and growing getting high the hats and reaching the ecstasy.

To close the pack, Quenum shows his atmospheric side with a track that allows to dance, but also to listen. 5 AM is an ethereal Electronic voyage, with softly woven beats, rippling synths and melodic keys. So, Quenum shows us a perfect balance between Chill and Techno. This is what we call Electronic Music. So, we are talking about a great advance of his album Face To Face displaying his Rich, dynamic and sometimes soulfully melancholic sound across this teaser ep.
