Phonogenic

Tulio

Flumo Recordings reintroduces their Limited Series with the vinyl and digital release of Phonogenic’s Tulio EP. Finnish DJ and producer has been releasing underground house music for over a decade on renowned labels such as 20:20 Vision, Cocoon, Turbo, Moodmusic and on his own imprint, Phonogenic Audio. The vinyl release includes the title track Tulio with a remix from Spain’s El Txef A. Another original production from Phonogenic entitled Super Sagan rounds out the 12”. Those anticipating the digital release of the EP will also enjoy Heavy Weather, a digital-only bonus track.

Tuomas Salmela aka Phonogenic, gets things rolling with Tulio’s bass-heavy groove straight away. Percussive elements consisting of a wood block and clap maintain the direction but its Tulio’s modulating, lush pads that elevate and define the track from start to finish. The Tulio remix from El Txef A has more of a split personality than the original. Deep bass and keys introduce a relaxed and dubbed-out vibe. El Txef A steadily elevates the track to its peak with ingredients of acid and atmosphere.

With the hypnotic Super Sagan, Phonogenic maintains his melodic and modulating nature with strong groove and ever flowing arpeggiated bass. Dark keys and swirling melodies raise the spirit of the track.  The digital bonus track Heavy Weather rounds out this very intense and diverse EP. With the most energy on the EP, Heavy Weather brings the party to Detroit for some righteous techno and house vibes. Rolling bass and piano stabs keep Heavy Weather moving and grooving through the storm.
