The London duo Federico Marton and Marco Donato, join forces with Blind Minded once again for Superfiction Recordings fifth release, entitled Episode #5. Having already impressed with the label’s first crop of releases and drafting in the likes of John Dimas, Cosmic Cowboys and Luna City Express for remixes, their new double 2-track EP is a fresh super-funky-jacking affair, with Alex Celler joining the ranks on remix duties.
The A side, 909 Drummer, keeps things simple with a rolling bassline and crisp minimal percussive beats. The track losses momentum halfway through, teasing its audience, but when it kicks back in with short instrumental vocal stabs and its monotonous lolloping bassline, all is not lost.
Rainbow Bended on the other hand is a vocal techno mash up. An infectious pulsating tribal bassline carries the song, interspersed with chopped, stretched and stitched vocal samples over a kick-drum-driven groove. One to definitely mess with the minds of the Special K techno dance floor generation. Alex Celler’s Glatte Redub gets to grips with Rainbow Bended, twisting it into an amazing hypnotic dubby remix all skittish hats and sinister swooping strings.
