Toughtforms EP is the first reference in 2012 from the Back And Forth label. It’s signed by the duo Highland Brothers Inc, from Croatia. This new release includes three original deep house tracks and it’s full of atmosphere with two remixes signed by John Dimas (Bass Culture, One Records) and Aeromaschine (Balsaal, Opossum).
The first track, Crosbow, is an excellent work that holds a high standard. Comprises many nuanced layers grouped with great skill, which gives an excellent richness of sound. This is deep house with incredible warmth, although somewhat linear.
We continue with This One‘s a Keeper, which follows the same line as Crosbow, elegant but more active and dynamic in the face of the dance floor. The issue is gaining in intensity as they move the minutes but no longer cut with great sobriety.
In the remix of This One‘s a Keeper, John Dimas is completely remodelling the essential elements, giving them a touch of acid house. It makes it an issue with massive power that shuffling between the dark and deep house and somewhat harder tech house.
In the next cut, All This Time, we found some interesting rhythms that sound more current. It marks its role as well-defined bass line and a female vocal. Unlike the other two originals, this cut is less loaded of elements, giving it freshness, though no longer an environmental issue.
Review of All This Time revision by Aeromaschine completely changes the structure of the topic and turns it into a tool aimed at the dance floor.
Overall, this is a very complete EP and great quality. There will be attentive releases by Back And Forth this year as they begin stomping.
