LA angels

Mannheim’s own Gorge has been a relevant player in the electronic scene for some time. With an impressive arsenal of remixes and original tracks, he is also co-owner of the top label 8bit with his partner and friend Nick Curly. Now he brings us his single release on his own label, Katchuli Records with remixes by Audiojack and DJ Le Roi. LA Angels is an undeniably tasteful dose of Deep House provided by a producer and DJ who knows it best.  His club-friendly deeper sounds have enabled him to travel and play at some of the world’s most renowned clubs from New York to Germany. LA Angels only provides more fuel to his unstoppable touch on modern deep house.

LA Angels showcases some of Gorge’s best work to date with his signature dreamy synths that become dancefloor destroyers as his uncanny ability to top proper bass and percussive work over it all. A dreamy spoken word vocal describes the vice of the City of Angels as a lazy bass and shining keys give the track a sense of effortless California cool. Audiojack is first on remix duties and they deliver their take on the laidback jive. Using their trademark bouncy rhythms and melodies to increase the deeper vibes from the original, the group’s pulsing and widely smooth mix take us on a fun ride of harmony and smooth aggression.

Lastly, DJ Le Roi bumps out his LAX Mix that takes the release to a more techy and jacking atmosphere. One for the dancefloors, Le Roi relies on break beat percussive programming and snazzy stabs as the vocal flawlessly paints a picture of a sun drenched and corrupted Los Angeles. With two impressive labels at his hands and an unimaginably successful career as a producer and traveling DJ, Gorge has and will continue to be one of the most recognizable names in modern deep and tech house.
