Gavin Herlihy

Positive thing

2011 saw a massive amount of success for the Leeds based producer Gavin Herlihy. Following an astonishing list of top labels like Culprit, Leftroom, and Crosstown Rebels, Gavin returns to Get Physical with his newest EP, Positive Thing. Featuring three timeless originals and a remix by the unstoppable Inxec & Droog, Positive Thing ups the ante for what we have commonly been hearing so far this season. Cosmic deep sounds and entrenching grooves propel Herlihy’s talents into a top tier of successful producers, really showing his ability to stand out from the rest.

First off, the bouncy Rhea delivers a slice of similar sounds we’ve heard from Herlihy in the past, this time pumped up with unique and attention craving samples that intelligently move in and out of this irresistible groove. How We Do It takes the release into the darker recesses of dance music, continuing Herlihy’s trademark sound with a stomping bass that bumps through warm pads and synths. Title track Positive Thing impresses with unexpected breaks and change ups. Combining vocal elements with melodic keys and effects, Positive Thing jumps at the listener as one to hear over and over again. Inxec & Droog team up to deliver a spooky alternative to the original, keeping the dark vocals and storming bass with their signature twists of deep energy. Not one to disappoint, Gavin Herlihy continues to challenge what modern day house music means, moving forward with top tier gigs and impressive signings.
