Chopstick & Johnjon Feat. Signaljacker

After a year absence from the Soul label, Chopstick & JohnJon release once again on the highly acclaimed Soul imprint.  Teaming up with Signaljacker a.k.a Chris James from the band Stateless, the release spreads across all different moods and genres.  As the Soul label has always welcomed refreshing and creative sounds, Roots breaks down the borders of club and lounge music. Supplying multiple versions of the title track, it is apparent the intention is to create different flows of energy and momentum with every beat.

As the release opens with the original mix of Roots, a melancholic and dreamy atmosphere blend together in an impressive display of sound design. Full of emotion and sensual energy, Roots is less for the club and more for the home. The Alternative Mix supplies and brighter and more summer friendly rendition with dynamic sounds and four to the floor groove. Also included in the pack are the Radio Edit and Instrumental versions respectively.

Finally, the closing track Still Breathing continues to allow James’ vocal work to shine complimented by a perfect arrange of lush lounging sounds. Another genius melody of precise sounds and emotions that leave little to be desired. Another track to enjoy outside on a sunny day or lounging at home, Chopstick and JohnJon display their eclectic production talent. As a never-before-heard side of the producers, this EP is one to give a listen through. After listening long enough one can almost appreciate the detailed and passionate thinking that goes into their work.
