We started the week with more news in one of the biggest events of this year, the 20th Anniversary of Sónar Barcelona. We see new additions to the line up, in both day and night sessions, where is transferred Sónar by Day and Sónar‘s new brand, Sónar D+.
New additions to Sónar Barcelona 2013
Sónar adds 15 new inclusions to its Sónar by Night line up. We can find names as the agitator DJ Diplo, the Major Lazer Project, The French label Ed Banger celebrates its 10th anniversary with a special showcase consisting of Justice, Breakbot and Busy P. Derrick May and Laurent Garnier, classics among classics, did not want to miss the birthday party. Other return visitors, with a new album and new show as Soulwax, and more names as the Londoners Raime, Oneman, the Icelandic duo Gluteus Maximus or Eats Everything.
Sónar by Day also expands its line up with more than 20 new names. They include the live shows by Jamie Lidell, the British duo AlunaGeorge, Karl Hyde, half of Underworld, Dinos Chapman, Ólafur Arnalds or Samaris trio. Some very special sessions are also in store, this applies to the sets from Matthew Herbert (on the decks at Sónar for the first time) Modeselektor, Nacho Marco and Mary Anne Hobbs, who will all be djing as part of the daytime schedule for the first time. Also Red Bull Music Academy is once again curating the SonarDôme stage, they will be presenting the first artists in their line up, including TNGHT, bRUNA, Krystal Klear, Anenon or Jools Hunter.
The new venue for Sónar by Day
After 19 years at the CCCB, the MACBA and the surrounding area, the festival is moving its daytime headquarters to the Fira Montjuïc, an emblematic location area. The new location will breathe new life into Sónar by Day, with extensive spaces that will facilitate optimal movement by those attending and the professionals participating. Keeps its 4 stages (SonarVillage, SonarHall, SonarDôme and SonarComplex), all of which have increased capacities. Also, the new Sónar by Day is significantly nearer Sónar by Nigh.
Sónar+D, Sónar‘s new Brand
Sónar+D is the evolution of the festival’s professional and new media areas, which presents a series of activities based around the same central theme: making the relationship between creativity, technology, mobility, innovation and business more visible and accessible. Offers workshops and hackathons, interactive installations, product demos and presentations, services and entrepreneurial initiatives, conferences and meetings and live shows in the field of creativity, technology and music.
