From Argentina, we listen to Nico Purman. Influenced by groups and artists as diverse as Joy Division, Depeche Mode, Michael Jackson, or the Belgian New Beat, Nico started to play percussion and play in groups in his city at 17. He even recorded at one of the largest studies of Buenos Aires. This led him to develop his idea of rhythm and bought a mixer and some vinyls. He played around the circuit of his city until it became one of the most important Djs of Argentina, because he had a large vinyl collection and inserted loops and effects to link the themes perfectly.
Soon he decided to start his own productions. To reach Vakant, Nico goes through a handful of very important labels. First published on the German label Karmarouge in 2004, working with his friend Gustavo Sacchetti. Later starts in the twelve inches on the French label Modelisme, with the Ciudad de nubes ep. In 2006 he releases again on Modelisme, but is certainly the year 2007 the one that captures the attention of the international scene. This year launch on Crosstown Rebels, the respected Japanese label Mule Electronic, and on Curle Recordings. From here, Vakant captures its attention, accumulating six releases. This 2013 has started his own label, Art Of Memory, now with one and only release of him. We wish him all the best.
