The last Focus On of 2013 will be for the label who boasts of filling the empty space. Vakant is a quality label in the European circuit. We would say that works within the minimal style, but would be an understatement. We prefer to call it electronic music. A label that was founded by Alex Knoblauch and Stephan Bolch, but from 2009 managed solo by the first one. Alex had worked for such major labels as Mute, Virgin or Soma, but it was a demo of Alex Smoke what led him to create Vakant.
From here on, artists such as Robag Wruhme, Alex Smoke, Onur Özer and Mathias Kaden, grew under the protection of Vakant. In 2004 the first two references come in vinyl, one of Smoke and one of Wruhme. With these first two releases, Vakant striking European djs, showing a new sound, very organic, mixing minimal and electronics, but with melody and very serious. The following wave come by producers Mathias Kaden and Onur Özer, with interesting eps as Circle pit and Envy, respectively.
Vakant features about taking good care of each artist, following his evolution as a producer and opening the door to albums. This is the case for example of Tolga Fida, Dario Zenker o Nico Purman who has developed their sound with Vakant. Many big names have been published by this German label, as Dinky and DeWalta. In the last two years we also include Livio & Roby, Sons Of Tiki or Anonym and also Avatism, who these days publishes his album on the amazing label of Alex Knoblauch, undoubtedly a reference in the electronic dance music.
In this Focus On series we are going to enjoy these four artists from Vakant:
- Tolga Fidan
- Dario Zenker
- Nico Purman
