Today we opened the week with the news of new adventure of Sónar Barcelona across North American lands. We have been speaking of cities, line ups, and philosophy that Sónar equipment move across the Atlantic. And now we come with the results.
Sónar North American Tour has achieved a successful premiere, brought together more than 15.000 attendees among all the most legendary concert venues of Boston, Denver, Chicago, Toronto, Montreal, Oakland and Los Angeles, with a line-up compiled of North American, European and South African musicians, DJs and visual artists.
Sónar has moved to America its flavor and essence, a travelling event taking place on one night and at iconic spaces, in venues with a capacity of between 2.000 and 4.000 spectators. On this tour, Sónar adapts the spirit and personality of the festivals it organizes in various countries, combining live shows with dj sessions and audiovisual creation. We stop to remember one of its dates in Boston on last November 4th.
In the last two weeks, the Sónar North American Tour presented shows by Die Antwoord, Azari & III, Seth Troxler, Paul Kalkbrenner, Tiga, Gesaffelstein, Nic Fanciulli and the visual German collective Pfadfinderei. We want to revive it with one of the great songs that sure made vibrate the lucky attendees of this inaugural tour.
Paul Kalkbrenner – Das Gezabel
The Tour went ahead as scheduled, except one date, due to the impact of hurricane Sandy, the show programmed for November the 2nd in New York had to be cancelled. This tour winds up Sónar’s international route for 2012, after festivals held in Barcelona, São Paulo, Tokyo and Cape Town.
A teaser with the new festival image will be released shortly, as well as more information on the dates for Sónar 2013 around the world. In the meantime you can review Sónar North American Tour in this gallery.
