Alfa Mito Club To Club 2013 meets music, art and electronic culture

#C2C13 is the 13th edition of Alfa MiTo Club To Club, the most important music, art and electronic culture festival in Italy: at a time of intense economic and generational change, the innovative formula of Club To Club Alfa MiTo, able to twin avant-garde and pop, music and art, brought the festival to a constant international and domestic growth, which last year took it to a record attendance of 30,000 people.

It will take place in Torino from 7th to 10th November 2013, during a key week for contemporary art (in the same days as ARTissima and Luci D’Artista), ready to give life to one of the most significant and eagerly awaited editions in its history.

The theme chosen for 2013 by Alfa MiTo Club To Club is Twins!, symbolizing the partnership which ideally binds Torino to other cities where the festival will move (starting from London, where the European preview will take place on Thursday 19th September with Diamond Version and Niños du Brasil headlining) along with the ability to create an authentic community among all the artists who will take part in it and its twin festivals, who have been sharing the same attitude and inspiration (one of them being the prestigious Mutek, a global network dedicated to electronic culture based in Montreal).

12 Italian exclusives, 1 European exclusive, 4 absolute premieres, more than 35 artists from all over the world (USA, UK, Russia, Germany, Norway, Spain, Italy) representing the best contemporary mix in creativity and music which made Club To Club Alfa MiTo one of the most successful events in Europe.

The first 26 names in the line-up of #C2C13 have already been announced: they include some of the most acclaimed and visionary international musicians, such as the eclectic Four Tet, who after scoring remixes for artists including Radiohead, The XX and Justin Timberlake finally has a new album coming out very soon, the guru of electronic psychedelia James Holden, fresh from releasing the acclaimed The Inheritors; the oneiric Jon Hopkins, here introducing his recent album Immunity; the noisy duo Fuck Buttons (who contributed to the soundtrack for the opening of London Olympics last year) and Modeselektor with its hot DJ set.

Of course there will be room for some of the most innovative names in today’s club music scene: for example, Todd Terje, a true hero of Norwegian cosmic-nu-disco sound, or the dj producer from Bristol Julio Bashmore, one of the best in combining house music with UK Bass culture, and John Talabot, who will be presenting a DJ set with an original Balearic flavour.

Many of the artists in the #C2C13 bill move with ease on the border between music and contemporary art, from video art to performance: they include the exceptional Dinos Chapman, Nico Vascellari’s Niños Du BrasilDiamond Version aka Carsten Nicolai (Alva Noto) and Byetone, Andy StottForest SwordsThe Haxan CloakHolly Herndon.

Further adding to its rich programme, A Great Symphony for Torino will be a new special project made for #C2C13 and British Council (in the occasion of Contemporary Arts Torino-Piemonte, Luci d’Artista and ARTissima) by one of the most important contemporary musicians and producers, Kode9 (Hyperdub label founder, who signed the likes of Burial). He will be the art director of a new original soundtrack for the city, made by some young talents in the local scene for Torino historical and contemporary landmarks (Porta Susa train station, Piazza Palazzo Di Città, Piazza Carignano, Monte Dei Capuccini, Artissima/Oval, the Olympic footbridge Passerella Olimpica, Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo, Cantieri OGR): everyone will be able to listen to all the music pieces composed for the occasion in the days of Alfa MiTo Club To Club, by just scanning the QR Codes placed in the relative areas with a smart phone or tablet.
