From August 31st to September 7th, Berlin-based music software makers Ableton are opening their doors to the public for the first time to host a week-long pop-up store by Kompakt, the Cologne-based electronic music pioneers who celebrate their 20th anniversary this year. Artists from the Kompakt roster and renowned Ableton artists will be on hand for a series of performances, DJ sets, presentations and workshops – all of them free and open to the public. Visitors can also try out Push, Ableton’s first hardware instrument, and get a demo of Live, the company’s flagship music software.
Situated in Ableton’s spacious headquarters, the Kompakt/Ableton store will open its doors on Saturday August 31, 2013 in conjunction with Torstrassen Festival and will remain open until September 7, coinciding with Berlin Music Week. Come on down for great music, record shopping, free drinks and get up close and personal with these two mainstays of electronic music.
Further event details and participating artists will be announced shortly at
From their humble beginnings 20 years ago as the Delirium record store in Cologne, Germany to the present day infrastructure known as Kompakt – the owners Wolfgang Voigt, Michael Mayer, Reinhard Voigt and Jürgen Paape have spearheaded a global electronic music movement that encapsulates all aspects of supporting musicians and record labels under one roof. This community based operation houses the Kompakt record label, Kompakt Artist Agency (bookings and management), Kompakt Distribution (over 100 exclusive labels), Kompakt Musik Verlag (publishing / sync house) and of course the Kompakt record store. The spirit of what motivated the owners to open the record store remains – to independently provide the world with music without any compromise.
Ableton makes Live – a unique music creation and performance software – and Push, a hardware instrument for playing and composing with Live. Ableton was founded in 1999 and released the first version of Live in 2001. Since then, the company has received outstanding press, numerous awards and attracted a worldwide community of dedicated musicians, composers and DJs. The company headquarters are in Berlin, with an additional office in Los Angeles.
